Delayed Harvest and Large Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- December 12, 2017

The chironomid midge hatches are heavy on Big Stoney Creek and Passage Creek at dusk. A delicate dimple-rise form shows me the trout are feeding on the adults. I fish to these trout with a Mr. Rapidan Midge Dry size 18 or a Griffiths Gnat size 18. When I see  splashy riseforms I know the trout are feeding on the emerging midges and I use a Bead Head Copper John Zebra size 18 with a slow fly-lifting action.
