Stonefly Nymph

Delayed Harvest and Large Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- February 13, 2018

Murray's Little Dark Stonefly Dry, Murray's Dark Miracle Stonefly Nymph and Murray's Bronze Stonefly Dry.
It was a thrill to see the adult little dark stoneflies sitting on the snow along the sides of Back Creek. It was even a greater thrill to see the trout rising in the flat water along the far side of the Bridge Pool to feed on natural drys. The upper part of the Hidden Valley of the Jackson River also gets this action.

My favorite flies are the Murray's Little Dark Stonefly Dry size 16, Murray's Bronze Stonefly Dry size 18 and Murray's Dark Miracle Stonefly Nymph size 14.

I usually see the trout rising to these natural little adult stoneflies in the flat, slow sections of the pools where I fish them one on one with my drys on a Murray's Classic 9 foot 6X Leader.

This is an exciting winter trout fishing game and even though the flies are small, you can often find some large trout feeding on them.
