Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - January 9, 2020

The caddis larva are continuing to grow well and there are large pods of these larva in the slow water along the sides of the streams. Fishing the Murray's Caddis Larva size 14 with a very slow crawling action in these areas is very effective. Fish these on a Trout Nymph Leader 9ft 5X.

Be careful hiking/walking into these streams as there may be some leftover ice/snow from the recent storm and cooler temperatures.

Since the conditions can change quickly on the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park, I would recommend calling 540-999-3500, option 1, option 1 for the latest update on road closures. For road closures in the George Washington National Forest you can call 540-984-4101 for updates.
