Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - April 16, 2025
Share
The smallmouth bass fishing is picking up. We are catching more than what we were a month ago and some are nice size. The Murray's Marauder in black, pearl, olive and chartreuse in size 6 are doing well. Fish these as deeply as you can and strip every 5 seconds. Both the North Fork and the South Fork of the Shenandoah River are clear and fishable. Bring your chest high waders if you plan to wade. Most anglers like to float this time of year just to be able to get to different types of water, especially the deeper pools. I personally prefer to wade.
If you need help with access, stop by the fly shop or see my book Fly Fishing the Shenandoah River for Smallmouth Bass.
