Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - August 28, 2019
Share
Recommended Flies: The Hexagenia Mayfly hatches are starting on the Shenandoah River. This Hexagenia (pictured) was on our back window of the fly shop just a few days ago. The Mr. Rapidan Skater Dry size 8 is effective for the last two hours of the day on both the duns and the spinners.
Our guides have been doing well with the Murray's Crayfish size 6, Dying Dace size 6, Olive Marauder size 6 or 8 and Black Marauder size 6 or 8.
Stream Conditions:
The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. Downstream of Access Spot #1 has been doing well. Wade carefully so you do not spook the fish.
The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. The water levels are good for either wading or floating. Upstream from access #11 (Seakfords) has been doing well. For all public access, check out our marked map in the fly shop.
