Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - October 17, 2019
Share
Recommended Flies: Some of the bass are seeking feeding stations in the deep back eddies that form below the riffles on the side of the river with the slowest current. These bass tend to feed on large minnows and I do well with the Murray's Tungsten Cone Head Marauder in black, pearl, and olive all in size 4. Often a sink tip III fly line will help in this situation.
Stream Conditions:
The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. Downstream from access #4 on the North Fork has been doing well. Wade slow and carefully so you do not spook the fish.
The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. Downstream from access #12 (Good's Landing) has been productive. For all public access, check out our marked map in the fly shop.
