Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - November 1, 2019
Share
The rains we received yesterday have improved the stream levels therefore improving the fishing. You will get your best fishing by using a Betsy Streamer size 10 on a Classic 7 1/2ft 4X Leader with a Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle size 14 on a 24 inch dropper below it. If you have trouble seeing the Betsy Streamer then you can use a Mr. Rapidan Streamer size 10 which has the yellow to help you see. Fish this rig down and across stream in the deep runs. In most cases you will catch the trout on the dropper.
Stream Conditions: The water levels are much better after the rains we received yesterday. All of the local trout stocked trout streams such as Big Stoney Creek (Edinburg), Passage Creek (Fort Valley) and Mill Creek (Mount Jackson) are in great shape.
A note from VDGIF: Due to construction/renovation activities at the Front Royal Fish Hatchery the Delayed Harvest Area on Passage Creek (Warren Co.) will not be stocked and closed to fishing until further notice. This is due to stocking and angler access constraints and public safety concerns. It is anticipated to be re-opened by October 1, 2020.
