I developed this pattern to match the natural dark stoneflies I saw resting on the snow along Virginia's mountain trout streams early in the season. It is also great in size 18 for trout feeding on midges. Watch the rise forms and cast it two feet out ahead of these cruising trout on a 7X leader.
