Elk Hair Caddis Brown- This is an excellent searching pattern on all trout streams because it is very effective when hatches are sparse. If you like to use a dry fly with a nymph dropper the Elk Hair in this fly makes it an excellent choice because of its great flotation.
Elk Hair Caddis Olive- There are many natural olive caddisflies on the trout streams in the Shenandoah Valley so this is a very productive fly on these streams. The North Fork of the Shenandoah River in the Edinburg area gives me great smallmouth bass with this fly in size 12 due to the very heavy caddisfly hatches at dusk. Fish it with a slow two inch twitching action.
