Scott Centric 9' 6-Weight Fly Rod & Reel Outfit | Western Trout & Smallmouth Bass

The Scott Centric 906/4 is an excellent 6-weight fly rod for large western trout streams, hopper-dropper fishing, and streamer fishing. I particularly like this rod when fishing from a drift boat or wading larger rivers because it has the power to cast larger flies while still giving you the accuracy and line control needed for dry flies and nymphs.

The Centric 9' 6-weight is also a very versatile trout rod. With a floating WF-6-F fly line and a 9' 5X leader, it handles dry flies and nymphs from about size 10 down to size 20. When you need more power, it can also cast size 4 streamers on a fast-sinking head line. Some anglers get even more use from this rod by fishing stocked trout streams in the East and using it for smallmouth bass flies from size 10 up to size 6.

Recommended Fly Line

Scott recommends 160–185 grains for the Centric 906/4. Our outfit includes a Scientific Anglers Trout Expert WF-6-F floating fly line, which is a versatile choice for dry flies, nymphs, hopper-dropper rigs, and general western trout fishing. Scott's recommended grain range is also a useful reference if you want to add a second fly line for streamer fishing or other specialized applications.

We provide free professional spooling so your fly rod and reel outfit is ready to fish when it arrives.

How to Order: Please select your Reeling Hand preference and, if you choose the Orvis Battenkill Disc III, your Orvis Reel Color.

Reeling Hand: Select the hand you use to crank the fly reel. The other hand will hold the rod. Choose Left or Right.

Orvis Reel Color: If you select the Orvis Battenkill Disc III, choose Black, Olive, or Copper. If no color is selected, Black will be sent.

If you plan to put the fly line on the reel yourself after your outfit arrives, select “No Line on My Reel.” We will ship the reel, fly line, and backing separately, without the line or backing being spooled onto the reel.
